No. 1 Texas lost safety Derek Williams for the rest of the season, coach Steve Sarkisian said Monday.The sophomore will undergo surgery for a lower-body injury sustained in Saturday’s win against Oklahoma.Williams was injured while covering a kickoff to start the second half of the 34-3 victory in Dallas. He forced and recovered a fumble by Sooners running back Taylor Tatum in the second quarter.Williams, who missed the previous two games with a hamstring injury, finishes 2024 with 11 tackles and one interception in four games.
