New York Mets outfielder Brandon Nimmo intends to keep playing in the National League Championship Series, despite dealing with painful plantar fasciitis, he told The Athletic.Nimmo told the outlet he has had the condition in his left foot since May, and it flared up again in Game 3 of the NL Division Series against the Philadelphia Phillies. The pain is the worst when he runs, and he is less affected when at bat or playing defense, he said.”I think when I really need it, I’m probably not 100 percent, but I can get going pretty good,” he said of his ability to run. “But it’s uncomfortable.”Nimmo said the injury needs time to heal — time he doesn’t have with the Mets down 1-0 in the best-of-seven series against the Los Angeles Dodgers. For now, stretching, painkillers and anti-inflammatories are getting him through. And he plans to keep playing.
