Hornets’ Brandon Miller (glute) sidelined for at least one week

Charlotte Hornets swingman Brandon Miller missed Friday’s game against the Atlanta Hawks and will be out at least one week due to a strained left glute.

Miller will miss at least three games before being evaluated in a week, according to the team. He played just 11 minutes before exiting in Wednesday’s 110-105 road win over the Houston Rockets, scoring six points.

“First and foremost, I hope his return-to-play plan goes smoothly and he attacks it with the right mindset and the proper focus everyday that he needs,” first-year Hornets coach Charles Lee said Friday. “I think that in his absence, some guys will get to step up and have increased roles offensively.”

Miller was the No. 2 overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft. He averaged 17.3 points and 4.3 rebounds in 74 games (68 starts) as a rookie.

Center Mark Williams (foot) also sat out against Atlanta for his second straight missed game. Guard Josh Green (Achilles) was available to come off the bench Friday after sitting out the opener.
