Jets interview Chiefs OC Matt Nagy for head coach

The New York Jets completed a head coaching interview with Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Matt Nagy, the team announced Wednesday.Because Nagy is still working as OC while the Chiefs have a bye for the wild-card round of the playoffs, his interview had to be limited to three hours and take place between Wednesday and the end of wild-card weekend, according to league rules.Nagy has been the Chiefs’ OC for the past two seasons and had a two-year stint in the same position from 2016-17. In between, he compiled a 34-31 record as the head coach of the Chicago Bears, making the playoffs twice in four seasons.Nagy is the fourth candidate to interview for the vacancy left after a season that saw the Jets (5-12) fire head coach Robert Saleh after a 2-3 start and go 3-9 under interim coach Jeff Ulbrich. The Jets interviewed their own former head coach, Rex Ryan, on Tuesday. Ryan, 62, had a 46-50 record at the helm of the Jets from 2009-14 and went 15-16 with the Buffalo Bills from 2015-16.He has served as a TV analyst since being fired by the Bills with one game left in 2016.
