A couple things to note in the edition. First I just changed around the offensive tackles for the Giants and the Browns. The Giants could really go in any direction they need help in multiple areas, but I will stick with offensive tackle for now to help Daniel Jones stay protected in the future. The big notable pick is the Las Vegas Raiders (still weird to say) picking quarterback Jordan Love from Utah State at 19. The Raiders can control the draft with there three 1st round picks. The Raiders quarterback situation is shaky at the moment. Their current quarterback Derek Carr this weekend trolled fans by posting an image of him and former teammate and Chicago Bears linebacker Khalil Mack hugging and hinting a trade with the Bears. It would be crazy to think the Raiders would move on from Carr who had one of his best seasons last year in 2019. A career high in yards (4054), completion percentage (70.4%) and QBR (63.7), you would think the Raiders stick with Carr. But John Gruden is crazy enough to pull the trigger on a new quarterback for the future. Carr also carries a $21.5 million cap hit against the Raiders and they could be looking to unload his contract.
Also another note to keep an eye out for is this could be the “LSU vs Alabama Draft.” Already in just my Top 20, I have 3 LSU players and 4 Alabama players in the Top 20. We’re used to numerous Alabama players going Round 1, but this could be the year LSU gives the Tide a run for their money. The record for most players drafted from the same school in the 1st round goes to Miami when they had six 1st round picks in 2004. I think 2020 is the year that record could go down. The question is will the new crown go to LSU or Alabama.
Either way that’s my top 20 for this week. Next week we will look at the Top 25 including my Buffalo Bills who have the 22nd overall pick. Listen to “Mock Draft Monday” every Monday at 5:00 on “Drive Time Sports” on The Score 1260 for more NFL Draft content!
